Position: Drilling & Completion Technician
Job Overview
N.L. Fisher is currently accepting applications from qualified applicants for a Drilling and Completions Technician position.
Purpose of the Job
- Provide technical support services to internal and external NL Fisher customers.
- Support NLF standard operating procedure development.
- Potentially work “in-house” at NLF clients office on an as requested/required basis.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Technical and continuous improvement of all aspects of well design and field operations to achieve the corporate objective of being the top percentile performance provider in each core area. Includes but not limited to: Cost Estimates, Stick Diagrams, Coordinate service company programming as directed from Engineering. From Service company programs and internal docs, derive draft Programs (40%).
- Research offsetting wells. Track NLF performance vs. industry using NLF SOP and eimapp.com (40%).
- Provide regulatory reviews, opinions and obtain approvals as required (10%).
- Support Standard Operating Procedure specification library, and new SOP development (5%).
- Record all time in NLF timesheet and submit on a daily basis to supervisor (5%).
Skills, Certification & Experience
BASIC SKILLS
- Self-starter with a great attitude.
- Operational efficiency (Offset review, Drilling: Spud to RR / Completions: Frac Assessments).
- Daily Cost Tracking, Validation and Field Ticket vs Invoice Processing (AFE Balance, Vendor Inv. Approvals).
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Strong design background and understanding of Drilling and Completion processes and file development.
- High level knowledge of in-field practices.
- Familiar with AER, SIR and OGC codes, regulations, directives, IR’s.
- Understands and Applies IRP’s.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent inter-personal and relationship-building skills.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
- Mechanical or Petroleum Technology diploma or equivalent and relavant working experience in the industry.
- Required or Eligible Tickets (1st Aid Level B, H2S, TDG & WHMIS).
- Eligible for professional registration as a engineering technologist in Canada.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of drilling and completions technical experience.
- Experience includes new well drilling and completions, existing well re-entries, workovers, abandonments and well research and analysis.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
- Familiarity with eimapp.com, getplainview.com, WellView, Wellman, Petrosight.
- Competent in the submission of Regulatory Compliance well information.

- Executive and Senior Management – regular counsel on project status – daily/weekly.
- Contractors, vendors, suppliers – project management.
MAGNITUDE/SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible to manage team task quality and due dates on internal schedules (getplainview.com).
Work Environment
- Office setting.
- Field travel is not a typical requirement of this position.
